Preparing for the battle..

So it is Sunday and I am doing all I can not to cure my blues with five loaves of bread, chocolate and any other sugar/carb laden food I can get my hands on.

Blue cause I am PMS striken, blue cause I haven't done ANY exercise in what feels like forever (what half marathon training...?), and blue because in a few hours it is night time, followed by bed followed by waking up to the dreaded Mondayitis. Mine is terminal.

Even so, I have gathered all my untouched, slightly dead and over ripe veges from the fridge and made myself a good pot of healthy soup, chopped all the carrots and celery in anticipation for once again, restarting on the road of 'rediscovery and balance'.

God maybe I am kidding my self my hear goes - oh and I better finish off my last Caramello Koala before I pack my pilates gear for a unlikely afterwork session...

On the road to recovery

I have been absent from my blogg, my writing and my mission to leading a year of my life in total health, balance and aiming higher for things I previously havent felt worthy for wanting..
Yes for the last few weeks I have truely lost that path and instead go lead to a fortnight of uncontrolable stress, sugar/carb/coffee binges, no exersize due to a foot injury, tears from loosing a loved one AND not attending my Can Too training.

I relize this, and I feel all the more WORSE for this, not to mention all of this is bringing on a mighty fine dose of PMS to top it all off (not so nicely).

But I am on the road to recoverey (again). I have cleaned the house which was starting to reflect how I felt, hopefully work will ease up or I can off load so of it so I don't chuck it all in and I am resting my foot so fingers crossed I can get into training again.

Training you ask? Yes, I did something crazy a few weeks ago (pre melt down) and joined up to a fab program called Can Too which trains to you run while you fundraise money to go towards Cancer Council Australia (let me know if anyone is out there reading this and wants to sponsor me!!)

So not only have I signed up but it is to do a HALF MARATHON! Yes I have offically gone crazy - I mean considering I have never run further than 7k it is a bit of a jump to a huge 21k.. but I am now a little worried as I have missed out on training as my foot is injuryed due to a kayaking in the waves adventure... (yes it was scarey).

So please say a silent pray for me that all will return to happiness and normality come Monday!

Being a lil slack on the whole recording my year but here is why... I had in-laws visiting, work was hectic and after making it to 20 whole days not eating anything artificial but failed on the 21st, and instead I not only fell off the wagon but it stopped, reversed and run over me a couple of time. Translation - 1 wk sugar binge, which would even make the biggest losers, look healthy... but do not fear.. also in this time I have purchased a fab new pair of whiz jazz trainers, a running singlet (more new running wardrobe to follow) and have signed up to train for a half marathon!!!

So I am back!! Yesterday was my first day of healthy eating again and today I sealed the deal with my first in a long time - a 30-minute/6 kilometer run!!! (Applause please!!).

Now I am a little hesitant regarding the 21 km race in a little over 15 wks but it is for a charity and I think it will help having a goal to motivate me - what do you think?

Or, is the fact that I haven’t even run 10k before a little worrying?

Oh well, I am actually not that concerned right now (thanks running high) so I will deal with that another day..

To Run Or Not To Run...

So I have two options that I am considering.. do I start (attempt) to train for a half marathon or do I join a soccer team.. yes two very different options but would like to do both.

Now the questions is - COULD I run 21kms? Could I run the 11kms to qualify to run the 21kms? And do I have the will power??

If anyone is out there let me know if you have done one before and who you trained with - was thinking Can Too

Let me know!

Turn To The Good Side

I have taken a turn for the BETTER now!! I am 16 days in my lil journey and no I haven’t had a drop of coffee (even though the hot, enticing coffee guy was here yesterday) nor have I had a drop of vodka!! And the sugar has been pretty non existence which has resulted in my skin slowly but surely starting to clear (she types as she sips her morning green smoothie).

On the down side the stress factor hasn’t improved... work somehow is getting out of control busy (no one should work on a Sunday) and that along with moving house, in laws and god knows what else, I am still finding it hard to calm my poor nervous systems- yep those adrenal glands are working in over time god bless them!

So here is a little update on my good healthy deeds since I last have typed..

Believe it or not, I, as a twenty something gal attended my first ballet class for learners and it was awesome, god dam it I knew I should have been something more than a farm girl made good in the city!!

Second week in bootcamp and once again my competitor streak has come to the show (fyi I never once thought I was a competitive person but people laugh when I say this so maybe I was wrong..) I am building up my fitness nicely and will soon be at the front of the running pack for the whole session (boyfriend I will catch up with you – you have been warned!).

Loving the trainer as well I really recommend joining a morning bootcamp style class!!
Number 1. It only goes for 45 minutes then you are done and also completed a really good workout.
Number 2. It is more like a small personal training group (and no she does just stand there and yell at you for the whole session)
Number 3. You have to turn up if you go with a friend or partner
Number 4. Well maybe, just maybe, I will see abs by the end of the year!!

Now back to my green shake!

Second Thoughts..

I am having a case of second thoughts. Maybe, just maybe attempting to learn a new role at work AND taking on this whole ‘ oh lets be healthy all year’ attitude is taking its toll.
Yes it is only day 5 but mix that in with a nasty case of PMS worsened by the fact that I have lived on nothing but evil white carbs, surgar and cocktails for the last month prior and BAM, its a shit load worse!!

So for this fact I didn’t write on this dear blog last night which nobody in the world has actually most likely read.. instead, I had a little cry, pulled myself together and walked to the supermarket to buy some healthy food and meat to prepare tomorrows lunch: Moroccan spiced chicken strips, with brown rice and veges. My partner who has also decided that he too will eat more healthy (did I mention he is a fussy eater so there goes half my food ideas..) so I have had to up the antics with my meal choices and actually learn to cook...

Stay Calm Or Ill Shoot!

Before bed last night I made grand plans to get up at 6ish to go for a jog along the beautiful Bondi to Bronte path in Sydney - I really confident I would do it - that is until my alarm went off and I remembered that I am not a morning person in the slightest.. oh well.. I have oh 51 more weeks to work on that before my 'year of health' is up.

So I, as I do every morning, hit the snooze button. 3 times. Yes I was late to work (but still the first one there - hello team??) and no I didn't look fab for my first meeting out of the office for the year pitching our artist to a magazine. Although I did manage a fab pair of heels to compensate..

New to the beverage list today I made a new concoction made from Vital Greens - I lovely green powder as the name reveals full of everything healthy under the sun to add to my banana smoothie (with rice milk that you very much). I am actually doing ok so far on the food front, lunch was a vege/chickpea/corn mixture with a tin of sardines (random I know) carrot and celery sticks with a teaspoon of ABC paste (tastes like peanut butter but better - Almond, Brazil Nut and Cashew spread - nice and high in the good fats) and for dinner steamed salmon with a little spinach, basil and fresh corn - whola!! Healthy eating down packed.

Slight fearing the weekend and my lack of will power..

Note to self - MUST do exercise tomorrow and work on being less hectic at work - repeat after me 'I am zen'
